MLS Cup: LAFC Beats Philadelphia in Dramatic Final

The Philadelphia Union and the LA Galaxy are the two teams that stand-toe-to-toe with Toronto FC this year, and they both have a history of dominance that has left them competing for the right to hoist Toronto’s crown.

While Philly and Toronto are not quite the most talented or aesthetically gifted sides, Philadelphia has always won. After three seasons of domination, the Union have found a way to get the job done in LA, beating LA in every single meeting they’ve had all the way back in 2013, 2017 and now in 2019.

While the Philadelphia Union will look to finish their third MLS Cup in the most fitting way possible, a victory in the final would be a fitting send-off on this magical season.

The first meeting saw the Galaxy go down 2-0 in a game that we all now can watch on TV. It was a perfect match for the Union, who took the lead when Kei Kamara was given the ball at the top of LA’s midfield and played in a cross for Kei to charge into the goal. The goal was not taken perfectly and the ball got stuck in the goal netting and the LA Galaxy were left with yet another scoreless draw.

But they didn’t take a second, because they went down to 12 men at the end of the first half, when A.J. DeLaGarza was sent off after being booked. LA played with ten men for the majority of the game, and that made for an interesting tactical battle that Philadelphia eventually emerged with a draw.

The second match was also a victory for LA, but this time in the 3-0 victory. It was the equalizer that put the game to bed, and LA scored a very well struck effort by forward Romain Alessandrini.

The two teams have traded wins back to back, and we have been tracking both teams for some time now, and we all know that LA is the better team. They have the better player pool, better players and better chemistry.
